Public Policy Minor: Social and Behavioral Sciences Perspectives The Ohio State University As we enter the 21st century, society is confronted by a constant array of challenges. On matters pertaining to education, health care, the environment, urban housing, and other policy areas, questions are being posed as to how to meet the needs of current and future generations. In trying to determine the appropriate answers, society needs leaders who have a grasp of the connection between the causes of these problems, and the effects of the different possible solutions. Simply knowing what types of solutions may work, however, is not enough. To create change, leaders need to understand how to implement the plans and solutions that they advocate; which will often involve them navigating the policymaking and enforcement processes in local, state, and national institutions in the United States and abroad. The public policy minor is aimed at providing students with the foundations for undertaking these joint tasks—learning to recognize viable solutions to today’s pressing problems, and understanding how to implement them in the contemporary policymaking environment. In the following links you can find helpful information that describes the goals, details and management of the public policy minor at The Ohio State University. We invite you to begin the journey towards understanding the causes and effects of the problems, and possible solutions that are being explored in today’s world. |
